The Wine Roads of Macedonia constitute a pioneering tourism programme which was developed through the joint efforts of the members of the Association of Wine Producers of the Vineyards of Northern Greece. The Wine Road that cuts through the Amyntaio region is called the “Wine Road of the Macedonian Kings”. Amyntaio, which is known for its wines that are classified as superior, is located on a plateau with an average height of 600-700m. Its climate is ideal for the cultivation of the Xinomavro variety, the strongest of all Greek grapes, which reigns throughout the region. Other well-known products of the region are the fruity wines with a strawberry, mulberry and lemon aroma, as well as vanilla, apple and apricot aroma.
The Amyntaio Municipality has an outdoor Museum of the Amyntaio wine heritage and presents a collection of objects and tools that have to do with viniculture and wine-making |
